EPISODE 41: SUBSTANTIATE

ABOUT: Devon tells the others about himself and his tragic past.

Paige working on her laptop in her room and five year old Balthazar comes in with his underwear on. "Mama, I dressed myself," Balthazar said. "Oh, my Baltie is all grown-up," Paige said. Paige hugs Balthazar and kisses him on the cheek. "I love you very much, Baltie," Paige said. "Me too Mama, Me too," Balthazar said. Candace is shining her Shindou Blaster with a towel, Isis shins her boomerang and Devon looks over a Shuudan manual in the Shuudan Headquarters. "So tell us a little about your personal life, Devon," Isis said. "There isn't much to tell," Devon said. "Aww, come on, I told you about my Morris," Candace said. "Yeah you did. Well, first of all, I am gay," Devon said. "Oh, I never met someone who was gay," Isis noted. "Isis, be polite," Candace said. "She's just being honest," Devon said. Isis whispers into Candace's ear, "Hey what about hooking him up with Kris?" Devon blushes. [Note: Kris is a former team mate of Kiro and Candace, he is gay.] "Kris would defiantly like that, he considers every guy cute," Candace said.

Coribun passes by the three of them. Coribun asks, "Kris is gay?" Isis laughs. "Coribun relax, many people are gay but it isn't the end of the universe," Candace said. Coribun some where else holding his head. "Oh man, this is way too weird. I need to leave," Coribun thought. Isis asks Devon "So Devon, tell us about your past." while Candace seems embarrassed because Isis asked the impersonal question. "Uh… well… Hmm… I've have had a very tragic past," Devon said.

Flashback. Twenty years ago in Moscow, Russia… A mansion at night, a party inside, cars parked every where. Rich people eating in a dinner table, caterers serving. A woman (Devon's mother) serves the host (Devon's father). At a social gathering hosted by Devon's father. "My mother was a poor caterer," Devon said. "My father was a wealthy senator. He had a wife and three older children with their own lives." The dinning room is empty. Devon's father full of passion kisses Devon's mother tipping her downward and she leans on a serving tray. "He had a drunken affair with my mother," Devon said. Devon's mother with uncombed hair trying make baby Devon go to sleep in a dark room with a red light sign out the apartment window glowing "LIQUOR". "My mother became pregnant with me. She was fired from her job and lost her apartment. She had no family, she went to my father but she was kicked out of the estate. My mother and I stayed in the streets," Devon said. "I never got to know my father. My mother eventually died of hunger before I became sixteen. I love her and will never forget her struggle. To be able to feed myself, I sold my body to the streets. Only men wanted me. Eventually I met a man who took me in to live with him. I stayed with him for year. I then set out my own path. I decided the world needed me for a bigger purpose."

Devon walked through a desert, walked in a jungle and rafted on water. "I searched, searched and searched for an answer. Finally I got one. I saw there was a bigger purpose, a reason I was born. I knew I had to save the innocent, to prevent what happened to my mother to happen to some one else, to be taken advantage of," Devon said. Devon trained to be a ranger (martial arts). "I decided to become a defender of good. The world, the universe needed me. Saving innocents are your thing, mine now. The head elder said she saw the potential in me," Devon said.

Kiro and Devon and Candace. "A hell of a story," Kiro said. "Thanks… I guess," Devon said. "Don't worry, Devon. That is a compliment from Kiro," Candace said.

A nightclub in a raver-type space neighborhood Liquid Club space city. People drinking and dancing in a club, Coribun is in a corner eating noodles. Coribun looks at pretty girls and smiles at them, they ignore him. Coribun dancing with everyone, trying to fit in. Mary is dancing with a couples of guys and notices Coribun. [Note: Mary is a former team mate of Kiro and Candace.] Mary comes up real close to Coribun on a wall. Mary asked, "Hey, you're Keiken Yellow, aren't you?" "Yea. You seem familiar," Coribun said. "I'm Mary, Green Eel," Mary said. "My name is Coribun," he said. Mary and Coribun sitting next to a small roundtable facing each other on tall stools.

Mary asked, "So what are you doing around here?" "Chillin'," Coribun said. Mary asked, "Is that so?" Mary and Coribun both smile sexily. Coribun asked, "What you doing tonight?" Mary asked, "No, not really. Are you?" Mary and Coribun slowly kiss romantically. Fireworks. Mary and Coribun watching fireworks in the night sky. We see Mary's hand holding Coribun's hand close up. Behind their hands are Kiro, Devon, Isis, Candace and Paige in a Shuudan room. "Hi guys," Candace said. Isis asked, "How did you meet?" Kiro asked, "Mary… you are with Coribun?" "Yes, we are together now," Mary said. "We met in a club," Coribun said. "Hey, then where is Kris, we (Candace) want to hook him up with Devon," Isis said. Candace asked, "What do you mean we?"
